The younger pages use the friendly, rounded shape children draw themselves — big eyes, small wings, no teeth to speak of. The adult pages go the other way: overlapping scales, spread wing membranes and ornamental flame, closer to a tattoo flash sheet than a cartoon.
Colouring scales without losing your mind
Do not colour every scale individually. Lay one flat mid-tone across the whole body first, then go back and darken only the scales along the edges of each limb. The eye reads the rest as detail even where you left it plain.
Printing
Print at 100% scale, not “fit to page”. Pick Letter or A4 to match your paper. The detailed pages benefit from heavier stock.
