Fall pages tempt you to reach for orange and stop there. A more convincing leaf pile uses three or four hues — deep red, rust, gold and a little olive green — with each leaf a different one. Leaving two or three leaves almost uncoloured makes the rest look richer.
Good pages for a long session
The leaf mandala and the patterned leaves are the slow ones. Both work well with fineliners rather than pencils, since the individual areas are small.
Printing
Print at 100% scale rather than “fit to page”, and match the file to your paper — Letter or A4. Markers need 120gsm cardstock.
